Recently joining ICBC Standard as Head of Global Emerging Markets Strategy, David Spegel is responsible for driving the strategic view and analysis on EM sovereign, corporate and financial debt as well as FX and rates.
David has more than 20 years’ professional experience in Emerging Markets, having worked as the Global Head of Emerging Markets Strategy in ING and Global Head of Emerging Markets Sovereign and Credit Strategy at BNP Paribas. He is recognized for his many industry contributions including pioneering work developing credit ratings predictive models, establishing the industry’s first EM corporate HY default rates and various other market-firsts including in-depth studies of EM corporate restructurings and recovery values.
David is also a director on the board of EMTA and led the Association into Asia in 2006 and into the corporate space with the industry’s first Corporate Bond Forum in January 2007.
